Wrong on so many levels! This plan completely ignores the ecological biodiversity of this space. What about the homes of the 78 species at risk that live there? Like the monarch butterfly, bobolink, barn owl, and spotted turtle.
What the Ford Government doesn't seem to understand (or care about) is that an ecosystem is interconnected, if you remove one piece, the entire habitat is affected. Trees communicate & protect each other through underground root networks; fungi contribute to soil biodiversity & act as decomposers; and species of wildlife that are already endangered because of habitat loss will be threatened even more.
At a time when climate change is threatening the survival of humanity, we should be protecting forests that take in carbon dioxide & allow us to breathe and live. Where is the leadership & integrity to do the right thing?
