Please do not do this to our Green Belt. Hamilton fought to stop the urban sprawl. We need our lands, we need our wildlife, trees and plants. All this talk about climate change and how bad it is, taking this land to develop it, would be horrific for the environment. The other land that is purposed to be opened to development also has wet lands. I personally own some land that is part of a wet land. I protect that wetland. That wetland has really cool things....like glow worms(not fire flies, glow worms). We have all kinds of creatures and native plants. But you know what you can't use a wet land for....building. Its not very good to build on and eventually buildings sinks and road erode and it causes flooding in other areas. You also containment water and what do humans need.......water. So why would we wreck that?
A better solution is using the dead space within cities. Theres lots of areas in multiple cities where there are buildings sitting empty, lots sitting empty. Use those. Rehab some buildings, in Hamilton a developer turned an very old school into condos, so it can be done.
But for our future, our environment, to help stop climate change....stay away from the Green Belt. We have already ruined so much and we are currently negatively impacted by it daily.
