The shortsighted actions of this government are an affront to future generations, Ontario’s standing nationally and internationally. As the world mobilized around the opportunity presented by greening industry, businesses and communities, Ontario is and will fall behind. A deficit of leadership is what we can come to expect. That said, I suggest the government consider the following, not anticipating it will actually do anything about it.
What we need:
A real climate change plan to reduce emissions, to help people save money by saving energy and to create jobs in the $26 trillion clean economy.
Adoption of a price on carbon pollution through a fee-and-dividend plan, which would charge polluters and return the money to the pockets of Ontarians.
Legally binding emissions targets in line with our obligations to the Paris Climate Agreement.
The redirection of fossil fuel subsidies into clean energy solutions
Thank you
