As climate change continues to impact urban density and the things people living in cities need, including locally produced food supported by a healthy ecosystem, we cannot afford to lose the green belt. While housing is an issue in Ontario there are other less environmentally harmful and more cost effective ways to provide adequate housing that does not require the infrastructure that developing the green belt demands. Please reconsider this harmful money grab that only works to hurt the people of the GTA, generations to come and numerous species that have a large impact on our ability to live in Toronto. Building high density buildings in the city, closer to public transit, schools and grocery stores is a faster and more effective way to address urban growth. Consider repurposing under utilized office buildings, factories and other spaces which take up valuable real estate, instead of continuing to destroy the irreplaceable environment.
