This is a disgrace, the Greenbelt Act was put in place to preserve open spaces and Ontario's natural beauty. Furthermore, section 5 (i) suggests that this land should not be used for the purposes of urbanization.
While keeping up with population growth is an important focus, we should not forfeit our environment to do so. Instead Ontario should invest in improving existing housing infrastructure, creating housing infrastructure in locations outside of the Greenbelt (even if further away), and increasing affordability of public transit, vehicle ownership, and electric vehicles.
