The proposed changes to the Greenbelt Plan will be disastrous for our province from an environmental perspective and will NOT resolve the issue of creating affordable, accessible housing. It is clear that this is an attempt to reward the developers who have conveniently purchased lots that will become developable once the changes go through. These changes will cause irreparable harm and are completely out of line with the intention of the Greebelt. Ontarians don't want bad, short-sighted deals that will serve to line the pockets of developers - they want sound, careful decision-making that will protect the land for today, tomorrow, and the future. We are not dumb. We know what is happening here. Increased sprawl is NOT the answer to the housing shortage. Build up, not out. Prioritize every citizen of Ontario - including those who will inherit the future environmental issues we are creating with our bad decisions today - not just those who contribute to the PC party's fundraising efforts.
