To whom it may concern,
Stunning to me, how the planet is falling apart all around us and there is no regard by the government to look after it, for future generations. Apparently Doug Ford doesn't have children and thinks we can stay alive, if we have more money in our pockets, as opposed to clean air to breathe and water to drink. This reckless behaviour is stunning. I thought to be Canadian meant we were better than that. Once again, we are plummeting into the world of "global embarrassment" as we fall behind other responsible countries, when it comes to climate change. A very important part of a politician's job is to act on the following:
1) A real climate change plan to reduce emissions, help people save energy and create jobs in the $26 trillion clean emissions
2) Ontario's Provincial Gov't. should put a price on pollution, making polluters pay for their emissions and returning the revenues to the pockets of Ontario residents, so they can lower their carbon footprint.
3) The Province should put legally binding emissions targets in line with our obligations to the Paris Climate Agreement.
4) Ontario to be 100% powered by clean energy by 2050
5) Ontario needs to put an end to subsidies and handouts for fossil fuel companies and redirect this money to clean energy solutions.
6) The Prov. Gov't. needs to address the problem of plastics and put an end to "one time use" plastics, for a start. Banning Plastic water bottles would be a good start and what about emptying fruits and vegetables from "clam shell" baskets into paper bags, right in the store and stacking them up, to be sent back and reused? Should be simple enough to do. Solutions don't need to be that complicated. It just takes some effort!
