I think it's absolutely ridiculous what the Ford government is doing to our province's environmental protections. It is absolutely appalling. I feel it is absolutely unnecessary to repeal these acts left and right without first building a solid proposal of what would be replacing these acts. What is there to stop this government from repealing these acts and then failing to provide a new framework entirely? While I agree that there are many amendments that could be made to these pieces of legislature (especially to cap and trade), I think that this government is repealing these acts under the guise of reworking them when really it has no interest in fixing them at all. I think that real environmental scientists, economists and environmentally friendly politicians should be consulted at length and included in the process of rewriting these laws so that Ontarian's can know that theirs AND the environments best interests are at heart, and we don't sacrifice the future of our planet just so that Ford can keep his conservative voters happy.
