Bill 4 takes Ontario on a backward path, plants us firmly in the last century. While the rest of the world moves boldly into renewable energy, Ontario is canceling hundreds of projects that build a new, cleaner economy. Bill 4 removes pricing on carbon while offering absolutely nothing in its place to curb the wanton use of fossil fuels that contribute to global warming. In fact, the reduction in gas prices and the ending of subsidies for electric vehicles outright encourages the purchase of large, gas-guzzling cars and trucks. Ontario deserves a real plan for GHG reductions that will help Canada meet its targets under the Paris Climate Agreement, and enable us to build a greener economy. Bill 4 is definitely not that plan - precisely the opposite of what is needed.
