I do appreciate that we need more housing in order to resolve the housing affordability problem. However, this is not the right way to do it. Suburban ground-oriented housing is inefficient to service and maintain, and encourages car-oriented transportation. In comparison, low-rise or mid-rise infill development makes use of existing infrastructure, is far more efficient to service and maintain, and encourages the use of public transit.
The current government promised that it would not alter the Greenbelt. How can the public have confidence in the government if it does not keep its promises?
