I am opposed to the removal of areas in the Protected Countryside and Natural Heritage Systems designations in the Oak Ridges Moraine Conservation Plan, and the re-designation of these lands as Settlement areas. These lands were selected for protection based on scientifically defensible parameters in an open, lengthy, and publicly transparent planning process. There are no similar scientifically defensible parameters or site-specific natural heritage assessment to support such blanket re-designations.
Substituting lands elsewhere to benefit private speculators and private interests is not in the broad public interest.
