The cancellation fo the Cap and Trade program, along with the cancellation of the Clean Energy program, are a huge step backward. As the population of Ontario and the world blooms, we must make efforts now to reduce our impact on the environment. Whether one believes in climate change caused by humans, the fact remains the same: the climate is changing and it is impacting our way of life already.

Ontario stands to be a benefactor in energy solutions that do not rely on fossil fuels. There are more jobs created to service and install green energy solutions and it will make the province independent of transportation issues. The modern world as a whole is moving to renewable energy, why would we want to align ourselves with old technology that will be outmoded in the next decade?

The government has a role to play in leading this change for the better. They must champion a cleaner environment by encouraging the change, rather than playing on fears largely brought about by lobbyists who will gain from not changing. The time is now.
