I am not supportive of this proposal. For years, the Premier has made promises to not touch the Greenbelt, so this proposal erodes the trust of Ontario residents. In addition, expanding land available for building houses is not the answer. In a report released by the Ontario Housing Affordability Task Force (https://files.ontario.ca/mmah-housing-affordability-task-force-report-e…) they recommended increasing density of housing and stated “ But a shortage of land isn’t the cause of the problem. Land is available, both inside the existing built-up areas and on undeveloped land outside greenbelts.” (p. 10). The Greenbelt is protected for nature and farmland, and it should remain that way.
