Hey, listen up!

I am a teacher. I work with very young children, some as young as 2, and I am afraid for them. Last night I looked at the weather forecast before bed and it shook me. Have a look yourself. 10 degrees, then 25 degrees, then 30, then 11. 32 centimetres of snow in Calgary. Hurricanes, typhoons, floods, tsunamis. This is NOT NORMAL, and guess what? It's caused by CLIMATE CHANGE. The earth is screaming out for something to change, and you want to take away what few protections we have on pollution? Are you so selfish?

I look at the beautiful, hopeful faces of my students and it sometimes makes me want to cry. What kind of future are they going to have if we don't try, at least TRY, to stop the onset of our own demise? Maybe your rich white life will be comfortable, Mr. Ford, but for one second can you look at the big picture? I want to be able to teach my students about polar bears, about the Amazon, about the seasons, about so many things, and not have them be in the past tense. These children deserve for us to make responsible choices. Take a walk in the forest and imagine life without forests. Look in to a baby's eyes and imagine telling them that they can't ever go outside because the air will never be breathable again.

Please, with all my heart I am begging you, don't follow Trump in to the darkness. Be a leader. We can do better than this.
