Developing the green belt is going to destroy what makes Toronto so great and turn it into a hellscape like LA. This should only be considered after gentrification and redeveloping low density neighborhoods. It will be less viable to gentrify decaying parts of the city of they can just lobby and create new infrastructure where it is cheap.
Developing the green belt, even a little bit, is a slippery slope. Long term it will add to congestion on our roads, more pollution, cost more to maintain, and ruin our cities image.
I don't know of anything else I feel more strongly about.
