The proposed changes to Greenbelt will not achieve the governments aims, unless those aims are to create more urban sprawl, generate more wealth for land developers, put more burden on taxpayers of affected municipalities, generate more commuter traffic and associated congestion and greenhouse gas emissions.
if the government wants to provide housing for your people and new immigrants it must direct development up not out. Density must be increased in areas where there are jobs and where municipalities can afford to provide active transportation and transit infrastructure needed to get people out of cars.
Expanding the urban boundaries as proposed is a return to the disastrous policies of the past that have proven to be unsustainable.
