I absolutely oppose the idea of opening up any of the greenbelt for development. Ford promised us he wouldn’t do this, and Ontarions don’t want it.
The lands that you want to open up for development contain fragile ecosystems and wetlands that we all rely on. This is a shortsighted idea that benefits a very few wealthy developers while compromising all of our futures. Build up, not out.
We need real, innovative solutions to affordable housing within cities, not more shoddily built monster homes that most people can’t afford anyway, destroying nature and clogging our already overcrowded highways. We don’t need more highways, either. We need housing solutions within existing cities and towns, rent control, not more of the same sprawling mess that this will give us.
Our collective future is at stake. I implore you, don’t open up the greenbelt for development.
