Developing in the greenbelt is taking away from the greenspace that we as Canadians value so much; and cuts into vital farming and agricultural land that is much more valuable to the future of Canada than building more housing on this land.
Development of large parts of this land is also likely going to cause flooding issues, not only where the housing is built, but in other adjacent areas too.
The plan to expand housing development into the greenbelt is a disastrously dangerous plan that is only going to serve to further handicap the future of Ontario. It is valuable greenspace that helps to filter our air and naturally control water tables.
The solution is to increase housing density in already developed areas, instead of pushing housing out further, and increasing dependency on cars and other polluting infrastructure.
