I am concerned about this…

I am concerned about this proposed change. I do not believe the parcels of the Greenbelt identified should be made available for housing development. I am concerned that this change is due to lobbying by developers and not based on science. This has been widely reported in the media. It appears as a conflict of interest to me.

The Greenbelt needs to be protected. Adding in adjacent lands would be wonderful, but should not be used as a “substitute” to take lands out of protection. I’m in favour of making the protected area larger. This area is essential for future generations of Ontarians, their drinking water, their food, their air.

This proposed change won’t solve our housing crisis. More affordable housing is needed. It’s disturbing to me that this proposed change is being presented as a solution for housing. It’s simply not an appropriate solution.

In conclusion, I am not in favour of the proposed change.
