It is an outrage that Doug Ford thinks that opening up the Greenbelt to development is a viable solution to solving the housing problem. He was not elected to do this. In fact, part of what he ran on was a promise to NOT open up the Greenbelt. His flip-flop on this issue is especially disturbing given the fact that much of this land is owned by developers who have contributed to the PC party and have been lobbying for changes that will allow them to develop this land. In fact, it would appear that this idea has come from the developers (Ford has been shown on video saying as much). There are lots of areas surrounding the Greenbelt which could be developed by increasing density with both high rise and low rise apartments. This will have a huge, detrimental effect on our environment and it is a shame that the government is placing the concerns of their developer friends above that of the province at large.
