Land is not all made equal, and it is extremely ignorant and shortsighted to proceed with removing pieces of land that are currently protected by the greenbelt.
Numerous experts in the environment and conservation have strongly come out against this plan to swap out pieces of the greenbelt for other pieces of land else where.
I strongly urge the Ford government to heed their advice and not proceed with removing any areas of land from the greenbelt. Leaving them protected is extremely critical.
There is no reason housing targets can't be addressed through building higher density housing within cities on lands that are not part of the greenbelt.
We need to consider the long term impacts of such shortsighted decisions like this proposed land swap. Housing is a priority, but it should not be done accomplished on the backs of necessary environmental protections.
