Among the long list of failures of Doug Ford and the Conservative Party of Ontario, this is arguably the most egregious example. The Greenbelt around the City of Toronto is a legacy for the people of the Province. Instead, Doug Ford and his wealthy supporters and contributors to the CPO are being given carte blanche to profit from the destruction of these protected spaces. Infill of underused space within urban boundaries is one of the best ways to increase housing capacity. The recent directive by Doug Ford and his government to order the City of Hamilton to override the consensus of its residents and open up farmland for "development" is a gross overreach of authority. It is an example -yet again- of Doug Ford applying his keen intellect to a problem and coming up with the wrong answer, much like his desire to build a highway through the Holland Marsh. Ontario needs better than 1950s solution to the problems of the 2020s. My advice to the Conservative government and Doug Ford is to remember the "3 Rs". In this case they stand for Revise, Repeal and Resign.
