The proposed stealing of Greenbelt lands for development is a huge blow to any hope I had for the current government’s attempt at credibility. Not only is it it 100% reversal of the promise to never touch the Greenbelt, but it makes it blatantly obvious that the system is inherently corrupt, with big developers being the main proponents of the idea.
PLEASE consider the long term consequences of destroying the connectivity of the Greenbelt and the dire effects in this era of global warming and major natural disasters.
It makes no sense to further urban sprawl - that is NOT the answer to the housing crisis. Instead, focus should be on maximizing housing in urban areas where the infrastructure to support public transit etc already exists.
