The Greenbelt was protected…

The Greenbelt was protected for a reason. If any government can simply redefine protected areas for its own temporary political benefit, then no area is really protected.

The argument that this will help with the housing crisis is disingenuous. The crisis is not lack of housing, it’s lack of affordable housing. This will not solve that problem.

Doug Ford made an election promise to not develop the Greenbelt. It now appears that he also made a behind-closed-door promise to his developer friends that he would renege on that election promise if they donated to his campaign. That is not only undemocratic, it is fraudulent.

There are plenty of lands in Ontario where development can occur and is occurring. Honour your election promise to Ontario voters and leave the environmentally sensitive lands alone.
