This proposed plan has been clearly created to benefit only the developers who purchased these plots of land with the intention of having the Greenbelt protections be stripped away so they can make profits. None of the proposed ideas make sense when you compare to the municipal level of action plans in regards to meeting the goals of new builds and homes for citizens. Hamilton alone has stated they have enough space and will reach their goal of affordable housing and development within their cities borders, they just had consultations and a vote, and now this proposal completely overrides that??? Where is our democracy? You will say I had a say with this as I am able to comment but will this comment be taken seriously? When the government promises not to touch legislative Protected lands and goes against that once re-elected, you know it was his intentions the whole time. Why are not all these homes designated as non-profit? If we truely have a housing crisis why are we still allowing developers and landlords make money off this system? The Greenbelt was protected from developers for a reason, and not only but removing the protections will we see environmental catastrophe, but it will be expedited with these removal of process, approvals, clearance and red tape measures that are put in place to stop irreparable damage to our land and earth. Climate change is real, we are actively looking at our earth becoming inhospitable and yet we want to dig and destroy more lands that help reverse some of that damage? Shame on you and our politicians who are suppose to protect and defend what the public and people want. It's truly devastating.
