First, I want to thank you for taking the time to read my comment on the bill that is currently being debated.
I reject the climate cancellation bill. I believe that it is important for us as humans to be mindful about how we are treating the environment. As someone who works in healthcare, I am greatly concerned about the human cost that this bill would have. We already see an increase in pathologies related to poor environmental changes that cause individuals to need more intense care for longer which is a huge financial burden on the healthcare system and consumes many text-payer dollars. It's not hard to see that the earth can't sustain what we are doing to it forever, we are seeing the impact on individuals health now never mind what we will see in the upcoming generations. Such insidious, chronic issues don't have a quick fix, they take time. We have been aligning ourselves to move forward for so long, why give up half way when it will bring about the results we need long-term?
I want Ontario to put a price on pollution, making polluters pay for their emissions and returning the revenues to the pockets of Ontarians so they can lower their carbon footprint.
I want legally binding emissions targets in line with our obligations to the Paris Climate Agreement.
I want Ontario to be 100% powered by clean energy by 2050.
