I do not believe turning portions of the Greenbelt into housing will be an effective way to solve the housing crisis as the prices of homes alone are far beyond what the average Canadian can afford. Not to mention if the government does take action on land set to be developed that is not up to par and "return the properties back to the Greenbelt" damage will have already been done and remove even more flora during a time when the effects of climate change are starting to become dangerously apparent. Needlessly disrupting an ecosystem without solving underlying issues such as affordability, access to proper health facilities, or efficient public transit in other parts of Ontario, much less where these new homes will be built, will do more harm than good.
