Cancelling the Cap and Trade system is a big disappointment to many Ontarian residents, even if they voted Conservative. The Ford Government did NOT win a mandate to do this.

• I want a real climate change plan to reduce emissions, help people save energy and create jobs in the $26 trillion clean
economy.
• I want Ontario to put a price on pollution, making polluters pay for their emissions and returning the revenues to the
pockets of Ontarians so they can lower their carbon footprint.
• I want legally binding emissions targets in line with our obligations to the Paris Climate Agreement.
• I want Ontario to be 100% powered by clean energy by 2050
• I want Ontario to end subsidies and handouts for fossil fuel companies and redirect this money to clean energy solutions.

Most leading economists, world-wide, who have studied climate change agree that putting a price on carbon emissions from burning fossil fuels is the best and cheapest way to provide incentives to change our energy economy. Many support a carbon tax (being the cheapest and easiest to implement). However a Cap and Trade scheme has several advantages not the least of which is that it ensures hard caps on absolute emissions year by year and rewards those that have invested in improvements. Hard caps by regulation alone is likely the least effective as it distorts the workings of the free market. .

Politicians who ignore real and urgent action on climate change by, for example, appealing to the electorate using short term "pocket book" rhetoric, will NOT be dealt with kindly by history or even in the next election. Beware!
