I cannot believe that in this day and age any government would propose taking protected greenbelt land in any area of Ontario or Canada for building housing on it. Once land is paved and developed it has gone forever. We do need affordable housing but in serviced areas of the Cities and Towns. This whole proposal seems ludicrous and not looking after people who need affordable housing. You are looking after the rich and well paid who are probably buying a second property. If you want to make sure there is enough housing then do something about the number of properties that are sitting unoccupied for more than 6/12.
There is enough land to build affordable housing in already serviced areas. In green belt land there are no amenities such as roads, public transit, water, sewers, schools, libraries, employment to list a few. It is very interesting that since the Conservatives had a majority developers have bought green belt land. It certainly points to inside information being known by these people.
MAP 9 Land located in the City of Hamilton south of Garner Road West, west of Fiddlers Green Road, east of Shaver Road in the vicinity of Book Road. – 2/3rds of this land proposed for housing is with the noise ban of houses being built in the vicinity of Hamilton Airport. If you remove greenbelt land then wildlife around an airport have nowhere to go but the airport lands and this creates huge hazards at the airport. This land is NOT to be used for development. This shows that the government has not really looked at where is the best place to build affordable housing.

Of course the Paris Galt Moraine helps to promote recharge to the groundwater aquifers that support drinking water supply, local ecosystems, agriculture, growth management, and more. Like all Green Belt land. You need to add to this area as much as possible but that does not mean taking greenbelt land from other areas. I am pleased to see that you do know what Green Belt lands and Wetlands do to help any area, not just in the Paris Galt area.
DO NOT remove these sections from the Greenbelt Act, 2005 there has to continue to be consultation with affected municipalities, public bodies, and the public on any proposed Greenbelt Plan amendments. These parts are there to help protect these previous lands in Ontario
