The Cap and Trade Program is still in its infancy and has not had enough time to produce its beneficial effects. By cancelling it, not only will there be huge costs for taxpayers, but you will be erasing any potential upside to it. We should at least give it time to see if it works or not, say 5-10 years.
I want Ontario to put a price on pollution, making polluters pay for their emissions and returning the revenues to the pockets of Ontarians so they can lower their carbon footprint. Pollution has a huge cost in terms of healthcare (among others costs) and currently that cost is burdened upon the public. Either have polluters clean up at the source or pay for the cost of clean up.
Ontario needs to end subsidies and handouts for fossil fuel companies and redirect this money to clean energy solutions. Fossil fuel companies are the most profitable businesses in existence, it is improper use of funds for the public to subsidize the rich.
