The projected downloading of development fees on the municipalities and taxpayers is daunting at best!!!!! According to the AMO's submission on Bill 23, the largest communities will drop be at least $569 million per year in today's dollars. Other factors taken together and available only if the turnaround time was extended, could put the cost of Bill 23 for municipal taxpayers at closer to $1 billion annually." As a senior on a fixed income, the prospect of increased taxes is frightening. Will I be able to stay in the house I have invested in to meet green energy standards and renovated to meet my needs as I age? Increased taxes will put these plans at risk. If Bill 23 progresses without changers in the structure of development fees I will be personally paying for the developers greed.
