PLEASE do not amend the current Greenbelt plan. This land is vital to the health and prosperity to Ontario and beyond.
Increasing density in urban areas is essential. Housing does not have to mean a single family dwelling but can easily and just successfully be reasonably family-sized rentals with nearby green space. I live in downtown Toronto and see many opportunities to develop and go higher with housing, especially with rentals, as owning a home is out of reach for young families right now.
Doing a good job of this will normalize how families can live in the city.
DO NOT destroy farmland. I inherited a family farm in Middlesex township and know how important this land is. Although I could make money subdividing my farm, laws are in place that prevent me from doing that. I totally agree with these laws as I feel although I may not benefit financially, the greater good is being served.
