It is unconscionable to go back on this government’s promise to retain the greenbelt as is. The greenbelt is a critical asset of the people of Ontario, including of generations to come. It should not be eroded.
It smacks of sleaze, if not downright corruption, that developers who supported the Conservative Party purchased property in the greenbelt areas now proposed to be open for development. No responsible company would bet a large amount of money on a land purchase unless they had been given back room reassurance that it would be open for development, despite public promises to the contrary. What public official really wants their name associated with corruption?
