Climate change is a real and existential threat to human civilization. This bill is exactly the wrong approach, and will make it much more difficult for Ontario to achieve real greenhouse gas reductions. It is also bad fiscal policy. There is a worldwide revolution taking place in the clean energy industry, and Ontario will miss out on future investments in new green technologies. Going backwards is no longer an option, and this legislation is a huge backward step. A price must be put on carbon, and the price must be increased into the future.
