This is a total slap in the face to all of the hard work that has been involved in the preservation of green space in Ontario. The Greenbelt is an important part of our identity as southern Ontarians. Destruction of this space is abhorrent on multiple levels, most prominent of which are: destruction of public trust based on previous public comments about the Greenbelt; corruption of provincial government due to Greenbelt removed lands owned by government lobbyists; and loss of prime agricultural land that has no comparable geological composition to the proposed new Greenbelt lands.
Autocratic decisions such as this, without public discourse, are a detriment to our democracy.
Democracy: "a system of government by the whole population or all the eligible members of a state, typically through elected representatives."
I'd love to see the results of a comprehensive public vote on this matter.
