Leave the Greenbelt alone.
The Premier was clear when he was first elected: he would not touch the Greenbelt. He knew Ontario's citizens did not want the Greenbelt compromised and sold off for private profits. Mr. Ford needs to keep his promises.
Your proposal overlooks something very important: ecologically sensitive land is not replaceable. Farmland is not replaceable. There are plenty of other places - areas that aren't part of the Greenbelt - where housing can be built. Build there.
Oh, and by the way: building a bunch of houses and condos isn't going to help much, considering most people in Ontario can't afford to buy them. Food bank use is at an all-time high in Ontario, so do you really think we can afford mortgages? Deeply affordable housing is the most pressing need, and it needs to be built in places where people will have access to transit and grocery stores (most of us Ontarians in poverty can't afford a car, after all.) Last time I checked, that doesn't describe the land Mr. Ford wants to let his developer friends to build on.
Leave the Greenbelt alone. Yes, more housing is needed... but this is not the way to do it. You should be ashamed that it was proposed at all.
