I fundamentally disagree with this amendment. The design of the green belt was to hold the land for non-development purposes, especially when there are housing pressures or other preferred uses for the land. It is high value agricultural and wildlife land and it should be held for that purpose. There is no use in having designated lands if we use legislation to move the boundaries. There is lots of land available within the belt. Alternate growth should be directed to secondary communities, Barrie, Kitchener, etc.
Connected to this, I am not supportive of taking away development money from municipal governments. Developers should have to pay 100% for their servicing.
