It is a terrible proposal and breaks a promise the premier made to Ontarians that he wouldn't touch the greenbelt. The government cannot remove and add lands to the greenbelt to suit their political purposes.
It's terrible that a few developers have been allowed to buy up significant portions of the greenbelt in the past few years - lands that are now being removed from the greenbelt.
The housing commission has found that there is enough land available within current urban boundaries, 88,000 acres, for the 1.5 million homes we apparently need.
There is no need to remove any land from the greenbelt, but it should be expanded and otherwise remain unchanged and protected.
