I am strongly opposed to Bill 23.
We trusted the Premier, when he said that his government would not touch the Green Belt. There was a housing crisis when this promise was made. The housing crisis a poor excuse for breaking this promise.
The Federal government decision to increase immigration levels is a poor excuse for breaking this promise.
That so much of this land was recently purchased by developers, many with connections to the PC Party, stinks.
We are not opposed to development. We are opposed to development in the Green Belt.
We are lucky to have such a rich environmental and agricultural heritage in this area. We do not want to see it sprawled over.
My friends, if passed, this will be a sad legacy left by your government.
50,000 homes is a tiny fraction of the goal. Is it worth sacrificing our natural heritage? No. No it is not.
