This is not the housing legislation we need. Mike Schriener’s proposal is far better. This sprawl will put our water quality at risk, increase use of fossil fuels, and increase commute times due to the forcing of cars as the expected transport solution at a time when people are having trouble affording the basics. In addition this will put nature further out of reach for so many buy degrading and removing ‘near nature’.
Quite frankly, those areas already house countless beings of a non-human form providing ecosystem services that will have cascading consequences once they are gone.
We have degraded the environment so badly in southern Ontario already. We need to look abroad for smart solutions that create effective livable communities that people don’t need to escape from.
