I do not support the repeal of the Green Energy Act. In particular, I have strong concerns regarding the proposed legislation that will require renewable energy producers to demonstrate an existing need for energy production before new sites can be approved.
With the need to de-carbonize our energy production systems growing more and more well-documented by the day, (It was 21C yesterday morning. In October. In Canada.) we need to be moving swiftly to replace our existing gas-fired power plants with renewable systems. However, as they are currently generating power, they would thus block the creation of non-carbon emitting energy generation to replace them.
Either cancel the repeal of the act, or amend the proposed changes to allow for replacement of fossil fuel energy.
