I am against this proposal. This sets a dangerous precedent for chopping up the Greenbelt and signals to developers that they can buy up lands inside the Greenbelt and lobby the government to swap them out with other lands so the developers can turn a huge profit. Furthermore, in considering which lands to remove and which to add to the Greenbelt, none of the criteria mentioned the ecological value of the lands in question. Not all land has the same value in terms of biodiversity, ecosystem functions, farmland quality, etc. These things should be considered when designating and re-designating land. Numerous examples show that offsetting if often not successful at retaining the original values.
