Absolutely do not pass this Bill. The Greenbelt must be protected in its entirety. No “replacement” areas must be considered in order to open up Greenbelt land for currently unallowed development. Land use plans show that Ontario has more than enough land allocated for housing and urban development to accommodate population growth. It is criminal that Ontarians’ natural resources would be traded to give a few dollars to the current government’s large donors in the development industry. This is bald-faced corruption at its worst. There is a climate emergency and this Bill does exactly the opposite of actions needed to address the emergency we all face collectively. Bankrolling developers that will build housing, infrastructure for which cannot be maintained through the tax base, is totally wrong, irresponsible, and certainly not in the public interest.
