Housing is critical, to have enough safe shelter for all Ontarians, however, this Bill will not achieve that end goal and will instead erode the important role that conservation authorities play in ensuring that wetlands and other riparian zones are protected from infill and development. This Bill has not been thought through from the perspective of Ontarians stewarding the land for generations to come.
In addition, the process for advancing this Bill has been cracking the edges of our democratic system by ignoring the please of the Ontario Association of Municipalities, aggressively moving the Bill in the midst of municipal elections, and voting on it before the comment period has ended.
