This is not where we should be focusing. We should be focusing on repairing socialized housing already built, making it easier and worthwhile to create coops, stronger rental control for buildings built after 2018, incentivizing laneway homes and legal suites in already developed land. There are so many vacant office towers now with hybrid work routines….perhaps start co bc erring offices into residential units as other countries are now doing. Start with those things before even considering the greenbelt.
Also, will any of these new homes even be affordable to anyone but the upper class?? Seems everything being built anywhere these days is all ‘luxury’. Where are lower/middle income people supposed to live when rent is skyrocketing, houses are unaffordable and the wealthy are buying only to flip and make profits?
Destroying our greenbelt is NOT the way to proceed.
