I do not support any development on the Greenbelt or moraine, nor the trading of lands, or swapping of lands, in order for development to occur on the greenbelt now or in the future. I do not support housing on being built on the lands of the future “Pickering airport”.
The ecological integrity of the greenbelt and it’s watersheds depend on maintaining the existing protected areas and buffer zones provided by farmland and undeveloped lands.
In a time of a world biodiversity and climate crisis, I am deeply concerned that any government would reduce the amount of protected lands and green space in and around a growing metropolitan city.
These lands are essential to our health and well-being, the survival of local plant and animal species and speak to our ability to maintain a world class city with high quality parklands, wildlife areas, plant and animal diversity and maintain water quality into the future.
We should be expanding the green space and the rouge park to include all of the “ designated airport lands” and farmlands currently under protection. Not destroying the spaces that make and will continue to make the GTA a liveable city now and into the future!
