Please leave the Greenbelt alone! Expand it - yes but never shrink it. Once removed from protection land is gone for ever.
Carving pieces out of the Greenbelt to build subdivisions is a huge mistake. It smacks of corruption as much of this land appears to have been purchased in anticipation of these particular carve outs.
Rural subdivisions are easy and profitable to build but do not solve the housing crisis which is largely a crisis of affordability. We need intensification not the sprawl which you will encourage with these proposed amendments. Low density subdivisions cost municipalities money. You have already impoverished municipalities with Bill 23 and the changes to development charges.
These statements are easily proven (see accompanying documentation) and have become accepted within the urban planning community.
If your conviction is to build more housing then lets follow the science, protect our wetlands, our moraines and the Greenbelt while telling our builder friends to learn how to build the kind of housing that society wants and needs; affordable, dense, low rise with lots of protected space and parkland - liveable cities in other words.
