I oppose the proposed amendments to the Greenbelt Plan. The Greenbelt Plan was made to protect farmlands and the wetlands in Ontario. It was applauded. I applauded it. The plan was the protection of 2.3 million acres of land.

The environment cannot be sacrificed for the sake of more housing. You are destroying habitat of species of risk. If the government won't protect environmental protection areas/our wetlands/our woodlands, then who will?

Where will our food come from? Shipping it from the Prairies? Shipping it from China? Is that where we will be getting our apples from instead of from Foodland Ontario? What about the Holland Marsh area - the heart of Foodland Ontario? You are going to allow development on prime agriculture land. Do you think you can grow the same crops further north? This provincial government is even opening up development for mining, mining, and more mining further north. Shipping our food for Southern Ontario from more remote areas in the country will increase our carbon footprint and greenhouse gas emissions.

Protecting our environment, our greenspaces, and protecting the good agricultural land in the greenbelt is an absolute must for Ontario.

If you destroy the existing Greenbelt, then beware of karma. This destruction will become a new TV episode of "Ontario Greed".
