I am responding to oppose reducing our environmentally important Green Space.
First, for Premier Doug Ford to go against his word that these areas would remain, puts a feeling of trust in our government at a very low opinion. He is supposed to be working for the people of Ontario, not rich developer friends.
These areas of the Green Belt as well as, environmentally protected land are put at risk. That would be catastrophic.
These areas are home for endangered and at risk animals, plants, and natural water ways. The removal of trees alone would only add to flooding of proposed building sites. The trees not only give off oxygen, but use the rain water for growth.
Every year there are Photo Ops for Save the Earth, Green Day, Plant Trees with government officials participating. With Bill 23 pushed through I believe this is merely a facade.
Who will pay for these undeveloped, historically natural lands? Developers are apparently getting a pass to pay for needed infrastructure to support these areas.
There is no need for urban spread as there remains enough area to build within our city boundaries as they are. These homes would also be more likely be able to provide the affordable housing that we so desperately need.
Our future generations depend on us to speak against this now! I speak as a senior, who is speaking for my grandchildren and future generations to come. Once beautiful, natural areas are destroyed, there is no going back.
Please consider these issues, plus more I’m sure you have received. Put a stop to this destruction of our legacy.
