This is a terrible proposal. I am one of the many renters in Ontario's whose future housing situation or ability to purchase remains uncertain, but I don't support any part of this plan. Destroying the highest quality farmland and environmentally significant places in the province to build more single-family sprawl is the opposite of a solution. And trying to say that it's okay to destroy this land because the Urban River Valley areas were added in the past is absurd. The URVs serve a different ecological purpose than the lands proposed for removal. On the other hand, if there's land in the Paris Galt Moraine that should be added, then add it. Expand the greenbelt, and add density to built-up areas, particularly along transit lines. People don't just need homes, they need food to eat, clean water, and functioning ecosystems. You can't just "move" soil quality or the other factors that led to the designation in the first place.
I am also very concerned about articles I have seen regarding the timelines between the purchase of some of the land that is proposed for removal and the announcement. I certainly hope there will be a full investigation into how these sites were selected and who had advance knowledge.
